Absolutely stunning. The beaches, the people, the food, the weather, the hospitality, and the list goes on. We are so grateful for having the chance to visit such an amazing place. My husband and our children saw so many turtles. Our guide stated my daughter had a special energy that attracted these beautiful creatures. My turtle collection actually started with a small stained-glass turtle lamp and the collection grew over the years. I like how things come full circle in my life. If I want inspiration; all I need to do is look at all my photos saved under the file name: Hawaii.

Thank you to everyone that came by to support me and my art adventure. It was a full two days and a lot of fun. I enjoyed all the conversations and the funny moments. As artists know, it takes time to create meaningful art and so I am not sure when I will be participating in the next Studio Tour, but I do look forward to the next one ~ next participation date to be determined. I had time this year to set up an inspiration table so that others can see first hand items that inspire me, my triggers that dial my gage ever so slightly and thus moves me to create things from large canvas art pieces to small Holiday greeting cards. When my hands are creating it allows my worrying mind to shut off. I just simply create.
I had my first daughter at 22. Kit is 22 turning 23 in just a few days. As parents, we know how fast time flies. Kit was 1 year old in this photo and I was 23. We were both so very young back then. Nowadays she towers over me in height and she is lovely. I bought a funny birthday card this year; we have this great sense of humour, same silliness and strange enough, we both have a passion for fine arts, antiques and Japanese paper.
I just finished watching the documentary 'The Bleeding Edge' by filmmaker Kirby Dick. I believe everyone should watch this documentary. I am the type of person who always asks questions. Being curious and researching a new idea before a decision is made; are all good steps and yet still there are people getting hurt. I have a family doctor who has been with me for 20 years and an OB-GYN whom I have been seeing for 12 years now. My OB-GYN supported me during two pregnancies and delivered my second daughter. I feel very comfortable asking my two doctors questions and both are very professional and most important they have integrity. I will now be very careful using the term 'innovation', after watching 'The Bleeding Edge'. I am glad these documentaries are made and people care enough to share their experiences. Educating ourselves, identifying risks, speaking with several experts in particular fields of study, and connecting with individuals with similar health experiences; these steps should be the fundamental base-line.
When my son was 8 years old, he painted this amazing art piece. I see a bit of his personality in his colour choices and layering. His courage to explore and experiment with the different paints and mediums can be seen in every inch of the canvas. My husband and I love our children. As parents, we care for them, shelter them and protect them from harm's way. I watch and read the news everyday. Some days I need to tune out and not expose myself to too much negativity, but what is happening right now just breaks my heart. Children being ripped away from their parents' arms; a family already in a fragile state. Anger and blame is not the solution. Where are the intelligent people who can solve this? Where are the Avatars? Where are the compassionate and courageous people who will stop this? Where are the people who believe that 'we are humans first and foremost'? Where is the humanity in this act? There is still hope. Prayers are covering these families; all these displaced children. The power of prayer is limitless.
Between the cooking, preparing school lunches, the cleaning, the homework, the tutor sessions, the driving to singing, dance, swim practices & competitions, glee practice, piano lessons, gym training, university year-end events, and the list goes on; it's in the quiet moments where I stop and realize how much I love being "ma ma bear" to my children (K, E & M).
Click here to view the CIRCLE Quarterly Art Review - 2018 Winter Issue. My art piece titled 'I Know a Place' is featured on page 28. Grab a cup of hot coffee, or tea, or pour a glass of nice wine and sit in a sunlit room and witness the art. Enjoy ~
The art piece is complete. I titled it, 'What if...'. I was working on this particular art piece on-and-off during my spare time. It was URBAN GALLERY who forwarded a link to all their artists on an interesting Call for Submissions for an art organization in BC. There was something about the description that intrigued me and so the process began. As artists, there is this internal drive within us, it cannot be explained, but we have to create. Again, it's the fire within our bellies. The first layer of art is the art right on the building. The second layer of art are the two canvases partially unwrapped. There is a passerby with an umbrella and it is partially raining. I positioned the passerby so that the moon is in the right place and the "lady" on the building is looking down at the passerby. This captures just one moment in time; but what if the passerby takes two more steps and then stops to admire the art. What if the passerby realizes the canvas art pieces are free and then drives back with a vehicle large enough for transport. 'What if...'
I've been working on an art piece; taking my time and not rushing the process. My final step is to place a passerby. At first the passerby walks into the street scene from the right-side and then keeps on walking by all the artwork (both on canvas and on the building wall). Just curious, if people were to see opened art on canvas on the street, would they stop and admire the art or would they just keep on walking...
It will take me a bit of time to place this passerby; but I am on the clock to finish this art piece. I am actually leaning towards a particular location. I will post the finished work in an upcoming blog, complete with the "story" behind the art. We had friendly visitors every morning at the B&B we stayed in. I will not disclose the name of the B&B so that these beautiful creatures will be kept safe.
