When my son was 8 years old, he painted this amazing art piece. I see a bit of his personality in his colour choices and layering. His courage to explore and experiment with the different paints and mediums can be seen in every inch of the canvas. My husband and I love our children. As parents, we care for them, shelter them and protect them from harm's way. I watch and read the news everyday. Some days I need to tune out and not expose myself to too much negativity, but what is happening right now just breaks my heart. Children being ripped away from their parents' arms; a family already in a fragile state. Anger and blame is not the solution. Where are the intelligent people who can solve this? Where are the Avatars? Where are the compassionate and courageous people who will stop this? Where are the people who believe that 'we are humans first and foremost'? Where is the humanity in this act? There is still hope. Prayers are covering these families; all these displaced children. The power of prayer is limitless.
